Powering the Earth

This is a good illustration of how much land we would need to give up to power the earth at the moment. Alot of people say you can not produce enough power through renewable energy to power the earth. The pictures in the link shows that it is possible to do.

In Ireland if we had enough wave and wind turbines we could have power for ourselves and export excess the power to Great Britain. It can be done but there is alot of money involved in getting the country to 50% renewable energy. At the moment Ireland produces 5% of it electricity through renewable energy. If the government gave tax breaks then that percentage could rise to 10 or 15% in a 2 year.

The Irish way is not to be proactive but let other countries try it out first and then we might have a go if it works out. I do not see Ireland produces viable amounts of electricity through renewable until 2020 when the EU has taken total control over Ireland.
