Can you start a business in a weekend?

At the moment I am sitting in room with 70 people I am going to spend the next 3 days with. Why am I am going to spend these 3 days with strangers? It because these people want to spend the weekend making a difference in their lives.

In an hour I am going to hear 17 pitches for ideas. 17 people have come to make their vision come true. They come with these ideas because either do not have the technical or business knowledge to change their idea in to reality. I am going to help one of these people turn their vision into a product they can interact with.

We had a presentation from Conor Murphy on his business www.datahug.com . He explained in simple way on how a business can work based on one formula:

vision + team = money

If you get the vision and team correct then everything else will follow. What people tend to focus on at the start of a startup is the money. How to get the money and make the money.

It has changed my mind from listening to him. I used to think about the money first on how to make the millions on my own. Now I will think of how to combine a great vision and a great team together. 1% of a pie is better than 0%.
